Some storming brain on my next fortress project: The Confuse-a-Cat- Fortress
There will be a CatEntertainingReproductiveNetwork, (preferrably built of round tunnels), where stray cats are tossed in, and then wander around. In there, there will be a wast amount of different pressure plates, triggering bridges, grates, doors, ... These triggered ones will be outside, and any change will madly change any pathfinding on the outside, and completely alter the fortress' settings. The main goal is to confuse everyone, and by the Task we will be named as joyful, yet cruel gods, whose obsession ist an increasing onfusion both among friend and fiend of this fortress. Any enemy shall land in the sewers someday, as any freinds will get their task complete, but not easy will it be.
a 42-step-activator
needs to be activated 42 times before triggering something great. I'm thinking of a pressure plate filling in 1 water into a several z-level-pit each time, and when it is full, a second trigger will notice it. Still have to think something about the evaporation (if there is not a second cat triggering for a while)
Kat-Destruktron
Some automated killing. Scientifically absolutely neccesary. Creates this absolutely essential miasma and has to go ping! once in a while.
Feline Death Ray Laser
Welll, something that can be used to do something spectacular with cats. Else launhing them vertically through the roof, or firing them in great amount and rapidly at enemy troops.
Anti-Extinct-Trigger
Those death machines will be activated only when there at least 20 cats detected by the device (e.g. 20 cats trapped by it, half of them will be used, the rest will be released)
flush-system
to occasionally wash the bones of vermin or dead cats into an exit where it can be picked up by dwarves. Bones are a valuable resource.
The Tantrum Spiral
An inverse tower where everything is flying around. Ideally, every sewers' inhabitant who enters at the bottom will be an exiting corpse at the top. Gravity will be a challenge. May also be used for bone extraction.
Sewers of DOOM
This is where excess water, dwarven dump and garbage goes, as well as dangerous animals or unwanted invaders. Has to be extense, and should be filled with live over the years. Dwarves will enter only to fight
Walk of Fear
A large tunnel, with grates on top. grates on bottom, where occasionally magma drops. Come on baby light my fire! It will be easy to create several of those, at several z-levels.
