v0.31:Thought
Over time dwarves will have different thoughts. In the latest version of DF, the rate at which a dwarf gains certain thoughts is controlled by personality modifiers. Thoughts have effects on the dwarf's happiness, and the speed at which a dwarf works.
To view a dwarf's thoughts, press k, move the cursor to the dwarf, and press enter twice. Now you will see a page describing the dwarf's feelings and thoughts, physical description, and a set of phrases describing personality traits.
Happy Thoughts
- "Slept in a (good quality) bedroom recently"
- "Dined in a (good quality) dining room lately"
- "Admired a (good quality) (object) lately."
- "Talked with a friend lately"
- "Made a friend recently."
- "Satisfied at work lately"
Unhappy Thoughts
- "Has complained of (hunger|thirst) lately"
- "Has been tired lately"
- "Slept uneasily due to noise lately"
- "Slept without a proper room recently."
Negative Thought Modifiers
- "is quick to tire"
Positive Thought Modifiers
Effects of Thoughts
As of DF2010, some negative thoughts make the dwarf work much more slowly. The dwarf will continue to work for a time, presumably until the negative thought becomes unbearable, and then will go attempt to resolve the thought by eating, sleeping, drinking, or some other action.
