Real-World Informaton
Quartzite is a type of metamorphic stone caused by contact metamorphism (direct application of extreme heat, most likely from contact with magma) of quartz-based sandstones, causing the quartz grains and/or cement to melt and then recrystallize as multiple new quartz crystals.
