Ballista Training Station

A ballista bunker meant to be built on the outer edge of a fort preferably behind a moat, that can switch between a Training Mode which recycles the ammo and is safe to other creatures, and an Attack Mode which allows normal firing at enemies. Includes an undergound ammo storage chamber for storing siege ammo.

level z=0

Training mode - drawbridge raised to become training barrier.
Attack mode - drawbridge lowered to allow ballista to fire across moat.
  • The triple doors are set to tightly closed to prevent pets from entering the ballista station and potentially get killed when they wander into the tile where the ballista arrowhead is.
  • Note: Although the lever activating the training barrier is placed behind the ballista in the above plans, it could be better that the lever be located beyond the training station further into the fort, so that it is still possible to raise the barrier when enemies gets too close. Otherwise, civilians will not be able to pull the lever as they will keep getting interrupted by the nearby enemies.

level z=-1

  • The whole chamber is designated as an ammo stockpile to store ballista siege ammo. The left most column of stockpile tiles below the channeled tiles one level above are where the recycled bolt will fall into when in training mode.
