Verified this reaction doesn't work:

Additionally, without [NAME:xxx], the reaction can't be selected from the smelter.
Proper testing and documentation is required for additions like this.
If you do get the reaction working, document what needs to be done with it if you give a generic version that needs substitutions to be made.
