Most modern aluminum production is artificial and requires electricity, so the rarity of this metal in the Dwarf Fortress universe makes it extremely valuable- It has the same material value as Platinum, making it useful to put in nobles' rooms to increase room quality. It is not usable for weaponry or armor.
