Dwarven marriage is not voided by death, which means that the spouse of a dwarf will continue to show up in the relations screen and that rooms owned by a married couple will still be listed as owned by both partners. This also means dwarves do not remarry or initiate new romantic relationships after being widowed.

Siblings will not marry. However, if your fort has grandchildren of an immigrant, they can marry their aunt/uncle. More research is needed to discover precisely the limits of consanguinal relationships.

New migrants to the [[fortress]] can already be married when they arrive. It has also been observed that dwarves (tend to?) only marry other dwarves who arrived at the fortress in the same [[immigration]] wave as themselves. Whether this is an absolute, and if so whether this is hard-coded, or a quirk, or a bug, is unclear.

"Till death do us part" is ''not'' part of the Dwarven marriage vows - the deceased spouse of a widowed dwarf will continue to show up in the Relations screen, and rooms will still be listed as being owned by both partners. This also means that widowed dwarves do not remarry or initiate new romantic relationships.
+
Also,if a husband or wife dies by drowning, your fortress will be cursed with complaints from the other spouse about not being able to  retrieve his/her spouse's clothes.

When a married dwarf dies, all owned items will be inherited by the surviving spouse. This includes clothing, so a drowning death may lead to constant complaints about not being able to store owned items.
+
Siblings will not marry. However, if your fort has grandchildren of an immigrant, they can marry their aunt/uncle. More research is needed to discover precisely the limits of consanguinal relationships.
