Template:L will get married occasionally. It is unknown if Dwarves will involve in same-sex relationships, but it does not appear so. Dwarves must be "lovers" before becoming married, the current mechanism is unknown. Dwarves may celebrate marriages with a Template:L if you have provided a Template:L for them to do so in. They may also choose to forego any formal celebration. After marriage they will share start to sleep in the same Template:L, share the same account (if the Template:L is in effect), and pop out Template:L like rabbits. Spouses share Template:Ls, Template:Ls, Template:Ls, and Template:Ls, which means that whenever a room of that type is assigned to a dwarf, it is also assigned to that dwarf's spouse (except in the case of pre-married immigrant Template:Ls). However, spouses do not share Template:Ls or Template:Ls.

New migrants to the Template:L can already be married when they arrive. It has also been observed that dwarves (tend to?) only marry other dwarves who arrived at the fortress in the same Template:L wave as themselves. Whether this is an absolute, and if so whether this is hard-coded, or a quirk, or a bug, is unclear.
Also,if a husband or wife dies by drowning,your fortress will be cursed with complaints from the other spouse about not being able to retrieve his/her spouse's clothes.
