Revision as of 16:50, 5 November 2007

Stone is the material that is left behind after Mining. Some mineable layers, however, do not leave behind stone. These fall into the Soil category.
Stone is divided into three key categories:

  1. Metal ore: stone that produces metal bars when smelting.
  2. Economic stone: coal and stone that is used as a flux or has other desirable features.
  3. Other stone: stone that is used for structures and has no special features other than color.

Economic stones

Economic stone is a designation for stones that have special uses as ores, fuel, or flux or other uses as far as making special items is concerned. You can use the z : Stone menu to un-restrict them.

The Stone menu will also show what each stone can be used for--very useful for figuring out what you need to mine more of to make that obscure metal your noble is whining about.

Other Stone Full Layers

All other stones have value 1, except obsidian, which has a value of 3.
