:: Win7 introduced some changes to security, including preventing changes to programs in Program Files, which caused some issues for games installed there trying to write save within their own installation folder. I presume the location noted is some temporary location where win7 dropped those files. I believe, but not certain, that is still the case in subsequent win version, not sure if it can be overridden by running df with 'Run as administrator' option. --Jan (talk) 01:37, 26 December 2021 (UTC) | :: Win7 introduced some changes to security, including preventing changes to programs in Program Files, which caused some issues for games installed there trying to write save within their own installation folder. :::I interpreted "if Dwarf Fortress is installed in the 'Program Files' subdirectory" to be referring to cases where a user chose to put it there. Windows wouldn't put it there automatically, and DF doesn't need to be there. If putting it there causes issues under newer versions of Windows, maybe we should change it to refer to an example user folder instead. —Lethosor (talk) 19:36, 27 December 2021 (UTC) | :::I interpreted "if Dwarf Fortress is installed in the 'Program Files' subdirectory" to be referring to cases where a user chose to put it there.
