Article requests

The dwarf fortress wiki is undeniable almost the best resource for reference to the game, seeing that I was often without internet connection, I found myself struggling without its reference materials.

I was able to finally get an offline version by exploring the murky depths of the forums, but it isn't quite the most pleasant place

Considering it's utility, I would wish to propose a page for users providing simple instructions or guidelines to setting up a version of the wiki for themselves for when the internet is cut off.

Outlining my steps for my personal version, which I did under windows.

1) Download [Wikitaxi.]

2) Download a [dump of the wiki].

3) Extract the dump file.

4) Open notepad or other editing software and using the find/replace function to replace

"#REDIRECT [[cv" with "#REDIRECT [[DF2012"

without the quotes. 5) Using a compression software, recompress it into a bz2 archive.

6) Import the new bz2 archive using the "importer" tool in the Wikitrack folder into a database.

7) Open Wikitrack, and open the database you just created.

This will need to be updated to appropiate Mac, Windows, and Linux versions, and some peculiarities may be fixed with other software.

Other requests

  • Can someone include a discussion about how dwarfs choose which jobs/tasks to do if they have enabled multiple labors and there are jobs in multiple labors on the DF2012:Labor page? Is it based on which job is created first? Their skills / traits / attributes? Which labor they are highest ranked or their titled profession? This seems to be an issue in the LPs I've been watching early on when there are only the 7 starting dwarves, sometimes extending into the first migration. I know a solution is to deactivate other labors, or use burrows, but I'm still curious how it works. Thank you, 108.243.77.185 03:08, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Hello. I wanted to know how to make the tiles uniform for the ground. I'm sure to have read somewhere once that it was possible to change the tiles to be all "." (I am currently searching for a Goblin Snatcher for a while now ^^). I searched for "ground" what has yielded me a link to above ground page. There was no link there. Could make one to the relevant article or indicate the settings to do please? 31.164.176.33 20:04, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
