Stress

Stress is a condition that can happen to animals. It will cause the animal to flash with a downward red arrow, similar to unhappy dwarves. Not much is known about it, however, but it seems to happen when an animal is constrained for an extended period of time. Dwarves can also develop symptoms of stress, the message: "Over the long term, Urist McDwarf has been under a great deal of stress" showing on the personality trait tab.
Dwarves under stress for long periods of time will develop worse symptoms of stress level: "Urist McDwarf has become haggard and drawn due to the tremendous amounts of stresses placed upon him". A dwarf at this state of stress has a chance of developing depression after a period of time. Furthermore, dwarves with depression for some period of time will throw a tantrum just like other unhappy dwarves. It is unknown whether a dwarf at this stage for a long enough time will go insane.
