A tileset based on Tocky's tileset, but with tweaks to bring it closer to the original ASCII, as I was always put off by tiles appearing in improper places. Graphical backpack tiles will show up on the world map as large human towns, which bugged me. Walls that attempt to mimic a simple 3D look end up looking like odd looking rivers on the world map. I experienced similar issues with many other tilesets I tried. Fancier little graphics always show up in unexpected places as they rarely are used for only one thing. The result is a tileset that has the minimalism of Tocky's tileset, while retaining the purity of the original ASCII set.

Because I don't want to step on anybody's toes, I've made a list of credits for the tiles not made by me. Credit mostly to Tocky, followed by Anikki, with a little from Yayo, Vherid, and Cheepicus. Some of those tiles aren't made by them either, but I credit them nonetheless. If you like it, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page.

A change of the colour scheme is highly recommended, and my favoured scheme is [http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=107924.0 Pastel], of my own devising. More colour schemes can be found in my release or [http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Color_scheme on the wiki].

I highly recommend a better colour scheme than the default. My preferred colour scheme is [http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/File:Df_tock10_1.PNG Tocky's colour scheme], previewed above. [http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=89856.0 Vherid's colour schemes] are worth looking into. You can find some nice, less "brown" colour sets [http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2012:Color_scheme here]. Feel free to leave me a message on my user talk page, or on the [http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=107924.0 forum thread] if you prefer. I'd love to hear from people who use it!

Many good, stout dwarves died making these tilesets. Also a few elves, and possibly a spider monkey.

Nothing to see here but solid walls. Move along. How do they see through the fortifications anyways?

Just try the damn tileset and trust me. The colour scheme (Vherid's Natural) is important too. You taffer.

Taffer's tileset[edit]

I have released a graphics set, along with 48 other tilesets. This page exists to offer versions of the tileset for older Dwarf Fortress versions.

An improved code page for Dwarf Fortress. Optional racial graphics and many variants can be found in my forum thread. Every tile means the same thing as the default graphics, but all of them have been redrawn to look aesthetically pleasing.

A change of the colour scheme is highly recommended, and my favoured scheme is Pastel, of my own devising. More colour schemes can be found in my release or on the wiki.

Many good, stout dwarves died making these tilesets. Also a few elves, and possibly a spider monkey.
