Valdemar's Macros

These macros all use AutoHotKey, a free keyboard scripting library.

Bedroom-Builder Macro

This macro will help you build large bedroom complexes. To use, copy-paste it into a new .ahk file and copy-paste the .ini file above it into an file called "bedroom.ini".

Pressing Alt-R will run the script and place the rooms. You need to be in the designation menu and have "mining" selected. Place the cursor where you want to start building rooms before you press the key.

Ini Modification

You can customize the script by modifying the bedroom.ini file. There is no need to reload the script when you modify the .ini file, it will reload it each time you press Alt-R. Most of the keys in should be fairly self-explanatory, but some are a bit tricky.

Door Position

For "door position", the number you type will be the column doors are mined out in, 1 being the left-most one.

█ABC█
A...A
B...B
C...C
█ABC█

This 3x3 room will have doors dug out at A if you specify 1, B if you say 2, and C if you say 3. Which A,B,or C is dug out depends on which side you specified doors to be dug out, of course.

Build Direction

For "build direction" and "row direction", you enter a direction as a number. The direction will be the direction new rooms/rows are built after the first one.

████████████████
█BB█BB█XC█AA█AA█
█BB█BB█CC█AA█AA█
████████████████
█BB█BB█CC█AA█AA█
█BB█BB█CC█AA█AA█
████████████████
█BB█BB█ZC█AA█AA█
█BB█BB█CC█AA█AA█
████████████████

X represents the designation cursor when the macro is run.

For this pattern, size is 2x2, number of rooms is 3, number of rows is 3, and row direction is top to bottom.

If you specify left to right, the rooms marked C and A will be dug. For right to left, the rooms marked C and B will be.

If row direction was bottom to top, you would place the cursor at "Z" to create the pattern.

More Examples

Rewall Macro

This is a macro to aid with rewalling. To use, copy-paste the script into a new .ahk file and run the script with AutoHotkey. Then, in Dwarf Fortress, press b-C-w, move the cursor to where you want to start the wall, and hold Ctrl-Shift-Arrowkey, using the direction you want to rewall in. To build floors, press b-C-f instead, and use Ctrl-Alt-Arrowkey. To stop, just release the keys.

The script will use the first material in the list. I suggest you create a stockpile near the construction site that only accepts the item you wish to build with and temporarily forbid any nearby materials you don't want to build with.
