::::I killed one in the arena with a single dwarf and a steel pick, after taking control of the dwarf. I found it was far more effective than the steel warhammer or the spear (dwarves dying, usually during retaliation while over-exerted), didn't care to try other weapons. I severed every limb until it was only head and torso left, that was the most difficult part, since the colossus still evades incoming attacks and torso or head attacks are more difficult. And in my fortress I killed another with a steel short sword (slashes in the head, and the severed part sails off in an arc), with a little help from other 20 soldiers with varied not-adamantine weapons and several war dogs and elephants. This was 0.31.18. --Oitohca 20:58, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

::::With some trouble, 4 swords dwarves armed with steel short swords chopped a bronze colossus to bits as it tromped through a field of serrated blade traps. I wasn't sure how much the traps helped, but a sword dwarf was credited with the kill. This little guy looked quite proud having left the encounter unscathed. The swordmaster who did most of the work barely survived the fight. I imagine blades are more effective than blunt or piercing attacks. Every (bone, wooden or metal) bolt the onlookers shot at the colossus were ineffective and spears were equally useless. --75.18.178.33 01:49, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

:31.18, colossus is not too tough. A speardwarf stabbed him in the head and his head flew off. Snooldex 02:38, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

: Looks like that. Migrant fisherdwarf got into fight with colossus and was lucky to survive long enough to become legendary wresler. Now battle report reads that colossus strangles dwarf's throat repeatedly, and they are standing there for 10 days. Peregarrett 11:03, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

: Seen this in adventure mode when a bronze colossus lost interest in pursuing me (I was leading it to a nearby town, to see what would happen), and attacked a camel - it began wrestling it, and wouldn't stop.  Eventually put the camel out of its misery, and the bronze colossus switched its attention to me after I wrestled it.  Dunno if that helps.

:: But that's not a weapon, it's sock. Either they can wrestle away clothes too, or that dwarf used his sock as a weapon (biological weapon of mass destruction, obviously) and colossus decided to save the world by disarming him. Peregarrett 13:59, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

:::"Yeah, normally they don't pick up weapons and items but they DO use those that they obtain through wrestling." Wrestling the clothes off of opponents has been a long-standing feature: in 40d, wrestlers would eventually end up naked and the barracks covered in drifts of mittens. In the current version, yetis and sasquatches have wrestled clothes away from dwarves before killing them. Maybe they use socks as protective hand gear while jamming their fists through dwarven skulls?JohnnyMadhouse 16:19, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Kaijin (Japanese monster movie) Creative Commons Image
While browsing the subject of Kaiju (a genre of giant monster movies in Japan, including the Godzilla series), I came across this page on Daimajin. And I thought this would be a pretty good approximation of what a Bronze colossus might look like, particularly after it has been killed and mounted as a statue. Image: Daimajin statue

The image itself is part of Wikimedia Commons, so Creative Commons applies. And it was my understanding that the wiki already uses such images for pages on minerals and creatures. Well, Bronze colossus is a creature and this seems appropriate. The only problem is that the background might hint at the small scale. But I think that could be alleviated if some of the background was cropped.

I don't have the wiki know-how to upload it and make it part of a gallery to show. But what do you think? Is this appropriate? Can it be done?--Thundercraft 15:57, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

: I always pictured the bronze colossus as Talos from Jason and the Argonauts. Here are two sites with good shots of him: . Either images will fall under fair use with the proper credits. I think this would be an appropriate choice since Talos is very likely to be the original inspiration for the bronze colossus; perhaps someone can ask Toady for confirmation about that.
