I was exploring one such cave when I got the [[announcement]] that I had found a chasm. I have an iffy memory so I don't remember if it was worded exactly the same as the 40d chasm discovery announcements, but I DO remember that the announcement contained the word "chasm" and not "cavern" (I had already received the "discovered a vast underground cavern" announcement when I first reached the open cavern layer). It was deep enough that I couldn't see the bottom. I was pretty sure there were no bottomless chasms in DF2010, but I just had to make sure, so I flung my character over the edge to find out. I don't know how many z-levels I fell, but it was nearly 10 seconds before I exploded into dwarfy chunks on the bottom.<br> |
