This article is about an older version of DF.

Campfires can be created in adventurer mode by pressing g. Currently campfires do not require anything to build, although it has been indicated that in the future there will be more work involved in their creation. Try not to block your exit with a campfire; they do not seem to be passable or extinguishable, and will only disappear after a few hours. Finally, necromancers and humans that visit your fortress and idle will start campfires.

Uses for a Campfire[edit]

  • Heating Objects. It is not known if this does anything to change the object unless it is water.
  • Melting Water in containers - Campfires do not seem to melt frozen water in landscape.
  • Creating Barriers.
