When getting the message "x has been struck down" this means that some poor chap has been shot/stabbed/dismembered/eaten/bludgeoned/killed to death or eaten.

When getting the message "x has been struck down" this means that some poor chap has been shot, stabbed, dismembered, bludgeoned, chewed, or otherwise brought to the point of death.
Other more specific death messages include things like: Burned to death, drowned, crushed by a drawbridge and most common among nobles, killed by a spike.

When getting the message "x has been struck down" this means that some poor chap has been shot, stabbed, dismembered, bludgeoned, chewed, or otherwise brought to the point of death. More specific death messages for less common scenarios include the following: Burned to death, drowned, crushed by a drawbridge and (most commonly among nobles,) killed by a spike.
