A werehyena appeared on my Fortress map (outside) with a popup message, killed a nearby Metalsmith, then turned into a human and ran off the map before my military could arrive on the scene. I savescummed to a few days before the attack. Around the same day as before, I got a werebadger, which appeared near my Trade Depot, killed an elven caravan's horse (the elf merchants were unloading their goods), killed two of my (less competent) soldiers, turned into a human, and ran off the map. Savescummed again, no werebeast. Savescummed again, werehyena appeared near the trade depot, killed an elf and a horse, turned into a human, and ran off. Savescummed again, no werebeast. Then the seasons changed and I lost my nice test save.... Oh well, I'm sure some more will appear again eventually.

Wereiguana showed up - 1 tile away from the edge, right next to a Trader who got glitched and has stayed at the edge for a year. Uncertain if this behavior is indicative of the stealth behavior mentioned earlier. He chased the trader for about 30 steps, invoking two combat reports - both missed both times. Then, he transforms, and starts to run away. The human form had no items, and no other distinction besides the fact that his name and icon was flashing as though he was legendary. Given this performance, though, legendary can't really apply. He's run off now, but I'll post again if he comes back. [[User:Jaaz81|Jaaz81]] 23:14, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Had a "weremouse", lol. Attacked a treecutter with a baby, baby torn apart, treecutter - only stunned. Turned human and ran off
 
 
 
I've had two Humans get caught in traps after a popup describing a regular human. They appear as friendly in the Others unit list. Every once in a while they change to "Weredeer" once in a while. : It is, I confirm. Got me a single werepanter with wave of migrants, first full moon - and the fight began. It was outside the fort, so casualties were minimal, and guards managed to kill the beast. But injured guard turned next full moon inside the fort, at the meeting hall, which led me to lose half of the population. A bite that instantly severs a body part seems to not count as a cursed bite. Also seems that bites where the bitten limb is torn off after the werebeast shakes it off also will not count as being infected by lycanthropy. Can anyone else confirm this?

Just found a werehyena, he killed a couple of boars, turned human and left.

I had a wereiguana come through. My soldiers killed it, but not before it infected 3 of my people. One of them murdered 2 kids, so I had them all walled into cells. No frills in there - no beds, no food, no drinks. I've run through several years, and I'm guessing that short of violence they can't die. They get thirsty, but not hungry, and I've never seen one sleep. When they change to iguanas and back the thirst/hunger is reset. Best of all, they're all oddly fine with it...everyone is "quite content".

Werebeasts change a certain time after they were infected, not necessarily at a 'full moon'.  I had a weretapir adult who infected a child, had them both locked away together, the adult transformed and killed the child later on.  The child had transformed before, just didn't do it at the same point in the month (the adult was around 15-17).  So a werebeast fort looks almost impossible to make, unless you can infect them all at the same time.  Werebeast syndrome also cures any physical defects on the dwarf, which is useful: I had one who lost his leg to a werebeast, but when he transformed he regained the leg and kept it ever afterwards.  He later had a granite pot dropped on his body, seriously injured, but recovered after transformation.  Werebeasts make average workers (it's a fiddle to drop things into their enclosures) but they destroy nearby buildings when they transform.  They could be a good noble, like a chief medical dwarf, since they don't need to eat/drink/have health problems.

My dwarves killed quite fast the [[Werebull]] that arrived to my map, but one of my dwarves get infected and transformed into a new werebull some days after.
