Could do with a rewrite[edit]
Looking this over quickly, it seems pretty crap. Too many headings, too little info. e.g.
- # 2.8 Megabeasts
- A megabeast appears alone, with an alert message that mentions the beast by name. These creature are quite powerful. Approach with caution.
Wow! That's helpful!
I would say that this article could be more of an index page, there are plenty of other articles that have been written on each aspect. The article itself should focus on:
- Fortress design (link to Fortress defense)
- Dwarf behaviour (link to Help! My civilians keep running into combat!)
- Traps and using traps
- Military (link to Military)
- Hostile creatures
- Aftermath (cleaning up)
--Juckto 19:25, 8 November 2008 (EST)
- This seems pretty thorough at the moment, more comprehensive than the Siege page. --Jellyfishgreen 15:31, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- It is a general guide and index page. Note the link to megabeast in the example you quote. Maybe some of the sub-headers could be replaced with bullet lists. --Strangething 21:33, 7 January 2009 (EST)
The big rewrite[edit]
As per discussion since about 2 weeks ago, the project to rewrite these several overlapping pages has begun. More work will be done in the next week.--Albedo 08:55, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
(The below is the "form letter" that now sits at the top of the new pages.)
New Pages, new organization[edit]
There had been about 5-6 pages on "defense", and articles and advice on various topics were scattered and repeated across all of them. This is an effort to re-organize them into 4 tightly defined and user-friendly topics using current DF wiki naming conventions - a General guide and overview Defense guide, and 3 articles on specific design - layout and architecture (Defense design), traps (Trap design), and specific advice on organizing your military (Military design).
Discussion from any pages removed or renamed will be placed (or linked) under one of those four. However, see also Talk:Fortress defense, which was not moved.--Albedo 06:21, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
