40d Talk:Why are crops sometimes displayed with red writing

From Dwarf Fortress Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search
Might it be related to temperature? I've seen that in some places, but I don't think I see it in all places. --Corona688 14:49, 2 November 2008 (EST)
The game doesn't check year wraparound. Crops that grow in Winter Spring get the red if there's not enough growing time left in winter before spring. Crops that grow in Spring Summer Winter Fall and have a growing time of over a year can't be planted any time because at the end of winter it decides there's not enough time left instead of checking spring. --Rkyeun 16:38, 2 November 2008 (EST)

Is this helpful as its own article?[edit]

This seems like a random trivial subject (useful thing to know, yet still trivial on its own)for having its own article. It would probably be better if this was information mentioned in articles about agriculture type things, and if this article was deleted. I know this site is way more lax than the sometimes e-bureaucratic, anal retentive wikipedia, but I only found out about this when random paging through the site a couple months back (coming upon it again made me decide to make this suggestion).

I'd say if we just remove it and redirect it to the appropriate article (farming or whatever) that'd be perfectly fine. Mason11987 01:14, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
