Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

Black diamonds are particularly rare gems, similar to yellow, red, blue, green and clear diamonds - they occur only as individual gems within existing clusters of faint yellow diamonds, which are themselves found only within kimberlite, itself found only within gabbro layers. Correspondingly, they are among the most valuable gems that can be found in Dwarf Fortress.

Like all precious and rare gems, they may also make up part of the walls of unusual volcanic walls.

D4Dwarf.png This article or section has been rated D for Dwarf. It may include witty humour, not-so-witty humour, bad humour, in-jokes, pop culture references, and references to the Bay12 forums. Don't believe everything you read, and if you miss some of the references, don't worry. It was inevitable.

A black diamond will not manufacture cheese in any form. Their presence also does not indicate difficult skiing conditions on mountains or glaciers.
