DF2014 Talk:Adventurer mode gameplay

Should we remove the "Stub" template here, the article has become of significant length and content. --MathFox (talk) 20:21, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

I think it is temporary page for everything that was in Adventurer mode#Gameplay. This article needs to be splitted into smaller pages and then deleted, because it has the same problem that Adventurer mode had: it is too big. Tankistqazwsx (talk) 04:59, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
On another hand, there are sections that are too small to be moved into their own article, so maybe they will be left here. I'll move some sections into their articles. If this article still will be big enough, I'll remove "Stub". Tankistqazwsx (talk) 05:19, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Experiment - Party Mitosis[edit]

Okay, so this is a weird idea, but...

How exactly does the whole "Intelligent Undead" thing work with a character in adventurer mode? If a lycanthrope, say, a werekoala, were to have their arm severed off, they would grow that arm back at the next full moon. In the case of the arm, it stays dead.

But if one were to sever their arm (Easiest way I can imagine is to do it as another party member), then turn it into an intelligent undead: A) would it retain its lycanthropy; and B) would it grow into a full WereKoala, and transform into an exact clone of the original afterwards? In addition, since this is an intelligent undead, and it's subservient to a party member, would this 'Perfect Clone' be a Follower... Or would it become a party member, due to technically being a clone of the original?

Will a lycanthropic Intelligent Undead be subservient to the original or go berserk?

I can't tell which category this should go under (Intelligent Undead, Lycanthrope, Party Member), but this question mostly concerns the idea of cloning a perty member to make more party members, so I'm just going to put it here. 143.59.78.57 19:43, 10 February 2022 (UTC) ThisKobold

This isn't the place to ask gameplay questions. Forums are better for that. But to answer your questions:
  • A) yes, it should retain its werebeast effects.
  • B) yes.
  • Neither (for me). When a party member dies or transforms into a werebeast, it's companion status ends (you can view this in the agreements tab in the Quest log, or Q-a). Once it ends, it's no longer a party member. Its follower status also ends. It says here that you can "reset" its follower status, but I tried this and didn't work. This is all based on a single test I did; loyalty mechanics are complex and so different situations/steps may result in different outcomes.
  • Werebeasts always go berserk towards other party members during their werebeast state, whether or not it's an intelligent undead.
I would also add this info on this page, under § Party members... but note that it needs more testing. – Doorkeeper 21:47, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
I found a partial workaround: go to a site, raise your werebeast friend's corpse as an intelligent undead, retire immediately, load up the world again, start a new adventure, select "Specific Person" at the bottom of the list, select your necromancer, hit N and select your intelligent undead werebeast this time, then hit done and start. You'll be party members again. The caveat is that whenever you switch to your intelligent undead werebeast, your necromancer will go hostile after a few steps and break the status. I only tested w/ a two-member party, and I don't know what will happen if you have a third member (it'll probably go hostile too). You can play around with it yourself. I wouldn't include this method into the article because it's too unstable and hacky. – Doorkeeper 22:14, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
