I prefer glass over stone, and I am always looking for places that have easy reach for magma sources. I never liked farming and prefer egg and beekeeping indurstries instead.
[edit] My first documented fortress
Fortress name: Kunkokeb Rakalmafol Emen (Translates to Catdwelled the Eerie chambers of fears)
The name was choosen wise: The fortress had a tantrum spiral very soon. I couldn't resist an urge to look at how would it die out by insanitites and started pulling it out after only 2 survivors left.
