I picked up the game with DF2010. I loved the complexity - an endless blade of fortress designs to be honed into perfection forever. Me gusta.
I do some video streaming of DF tutorials, demonstrating functionality in DF2012. I'll be continuing this with DF2014 (0.40.01+) once things stabilize and my tutorial format (using PeredexisErrant's DF Starter Pack) is usable for streaming, but I'll probably do some personal play and experimentation before a formal tutorial. While I love new versions, I tend to sit out the buggiest bits in hopes of avoiding crash and corruption bugs - I came to play!
