Spring, 191[edit]

Much time has passed. Our pump stack works mightily, although due to a miscommunication, all pumps were fully active when the miner struck the last rock to allow the blood of the Earth to flow in to the production channels. The ensuing torrent of scalding, liquid rock trapped the miner instantly and he perished in agony. The floodgates were raised barely in time, but now our production hall has been relocated and has pounded with the industry driven by the Earths heat. First order was to prepare adamantine arms and armour, which was assigned to any who had skills to hold weapons. We have survived two goblin ambushes, one which cost the lives of a number of our barely-trained militia. Replacements have been drafted, and are now engaged in regular training. During the ambushes, no less than 12 goblins were caged, and these became fine sport for our war jaguar and served (briefly) as live-fire training dummies for our militia.

Summer, 191[edit]

10th Malachite, 191. The Forgotten Beast Atkust Bax Smunstu has come! A towering ceratopsid with external ribs. It has two long, hanging tails and it appears to be emaciated. Its golden yellow scales are round and overlapping. Beware its noxious secretions!

Autumn, 191[edit]

3rd Limestone, 191. Zon Mosusreg has spent the last two months away from the rest of our healthy dwarven society in the mason's workshop. He has emeged, quietly confident, and revealed to us all Dasel Neshat, the dolomite floodgate. His labour has been unending, and the results are spectacular. It is encrusted with dolomite, studded with adamantine, decorated with goblin bone and encircled with bands of turquoise, horse bone and shell opal. On the item is an image of Rifi Eelclean the Belch of Snarls the hydra in dolomite. Rifi Eelclean the Belch of Snarls is traveling. The artwork relates to the wandering of Rifi Eelclean the Belch of Snarls in The Branded Hills in the midwinter of 171. Hmm. That was but sixteen short years ago, in this locale, and hydrae are not known for their brief lives. Already the cold approaches - perhaps we should take this as an omen and prepare for the coming such a beast.

14th Timber, 191. The outpost liaison Tulon Fikodkir from Nil Egath has arrived, along with a good, stout, hardy dwarven caravan. We traded a single gem-encrusted horse bone trinket for their stock of precious metal bars, blocks and booze, as you can never get enough of those and we are self sufficient in all other aspects. After being chastised laxst year for not establishing a trade agreement, I asked for all the lye and gypsum powder he can get his hands on. To give back to the Mountainhome, I gifted the queen with the finest full set of adamantine armour we have. The liaison seemed ecstatic and immediately reached in to his cloak, drawing forth a parchment embossed by the royal insignia. He duly informed me that the outpost of Zithisathel, Meshring, would now, henceforth, be known as a county. Stories of our mineral wealth and fame grows, but at what cost?

Winter, 191[edit]

13th Moonstone, 191. Alath Geshudrigoth, one of our planters, didn't show up for work today. This is nothing unusual, however when she was next seen, she had a mad look in her eye and was holding a dolomite floodgate. We thought she maybe had become obsessed with Dasel Neshat, but instead she says that something came over her. She had become possessed by a burning desire to create an artifact, and on closer inspection, the gate was indeed simpler, yet disturbing at the same time. It menaces with spikes of dolomite. On the item is an image of Lulo Matchpoets the elf and Lidod Simpleraweness the Adventurous Gleams the hydra in dolomite. Lidod Simpleraweness the Adventurous Gleams is striking down Lulo Matchpoets. The artwork relates to the killing of the elf Lulo Matchpoets by Lidod Simpleraweness the Adventurous Gleams in The Branded Hills in 182. I was mortified - two floodgates, two seasons, two hydrae, all in the region, all seen within the last few short decades. I have ordered the wind farm enclosed to prevent the loss of power, and the magma forges are working full tilt to produce arms and armor. It may be nothing, but I will not be responsible for Meshring falling due to lack of defensive capabilities!
