User talk:Kalon/Meshring, 193
Spring, 193[edit]
8th Granite, 193. With everyone safe inside, I ordered the outer bridges to be lowered. The goblin crossbows instantly turned our war creatures in to porcupines. Despite the losses, the ruse worked, luring the goblins in to the cage traps that were set up, however most disturbingly was the fact that a third squad of TROLLS has stormed on to the battlefield. I need to prepare the militia for a frontal assault...
15th Felsite, 193. The militia charged the goblins and slew most of the invaders. A few injuries, some serious, but the majority of the goblin menace has been slaughtered. While this is good news, troubling reports have been sent from below: The Forgotten Beast Sarek has come! A towering hairy pterosaur. It has a pair of knobby antennae and it has a gaunt appearance. Beware its noxious secretions!
19th Felsite, 193. The siege is broken, the last of the elk birds falling to good marksdwarfship. We will retreat to evaluate injuries and prepare for the coming elven caravan. Filthy tree huggers. Hopefully the battlefield with hewn body parts, blood everywhere and many, many caged goblins will serve as a reminder of the might of the dwarven empire!
Summer, 193[edit]
1st Hematite, 193. Those pointy-eared little pricks never showed up. During the siege, we ate through our reserves of food, and drank most of the booze. I have ordered emergency plant gathering to bolster supplies and hopefully we can make it through this summer. The elves shall pay.
22nd Hematite, 193. I have started the twin projects of "freeing up some cages" and "getting a little battle training in for the militia" by pitting the captives from the siege. I have also ordered the windmills repaired, our forges, although not wanting for it, are without a constant replenished source of magma. In other news, Zuntir Akrlulkezt, a stonecrafter, has been working furiously on a creation. He emerged after many weeks labouring to present us with Numstigaz Evud Olthez, "Windyrasped the Monk of Sorcery", a phyllite figurine of dwarves. The dwarves are labouring. The artwork relates to the founding of Meshring by The Ceiling of Scratches of The Hammer of Jungles in the early spring 187. It is encrusted in blue garnet, decorated with horse bone, and turkey leather and encircled with bands of phyllite, lead and blood thorn. This object is adorned with hanging rings of shell opan and menaces with spikes of phyllite and blue garnet. With a new Legendary stonecrafter in our midst, I may have to turn to these artisans for the creation of wealth. Our fame needs to be re-established.
3rd Galena, 193. We have been harried by a procession of Magma Crabs, rising from the scalding depths to cause devestating mischief. The latest assault saw the militia roused from rest to dispatch them but a lucky blast from the molten basalt struck three of the militia. Although the dispatched the chitinous abomination, the wounds caused by the flying stone failed to fully cauterise. The screams still haunt my memories as we lost Zon Mosusreg to excess blood loss from their previous wounds torn open in the assault, Oddom Lorbamnomal Fokash List to a fresh cut torn open by a piece of spinning basalt and Ber Obulegem to a flesh wound exacerbated by exertion. Our militia is down to a paltry four members - a marksdwarf and three swordsdwarves, and we mourn those that are lost. Additional recruits will need to be drafted, and I fear the anger of those forced to serve such a hollow place. We may be rich with mineral wealth, but our multitudinous tragedies sap at our strength.
12th Galena, 193. Ingish Ususthimeh has been ropeable of late - enduring the death of his friends, placed on to long patrol duty - and finally snapped. A huge tantrum was the result - items thrown everywhere and a fist fight with another marksdwarf in his squad ended with no injuries. He's calmed down now, with his beard quivering in anticipation of... something.
14th Galena, 193. A human caravan from Dur Rodi has arrived, hopefully we can trade for some supplies and animals. We have been without meat since the siege, and if I have to eat one more egg... So help me Armok...
18th Galena, 193. Those filthy humans brough a solitary chicken, a single (male) rabbit and a pair of what can only be assumes is infertile female ducks. May their large-bodied "civilization" rot in hell. I will but their metal bars and booze solely for variety and will dupe them with a single trinket encrusted with gems. Their sloping brows and clean chins deserve nothing but ridicule.
Autumn, 193[edit]
11th Limestone, 193 - our doom awaits. The Forgotten Beast Sarek approaches! I do not know how, but after many months without presenting a threat, it has found its way through our outer perimeter and is now surging up the access stairwells! With our militia depleted, I fear for all my fellow dwarves. I am frantically searching for a viable tactic to contain it...
15th Limestone, 193. The battle rages below. After tearing apart a blue peacock, the Beast was beset by a viscious frenzy of claws and teeth and fur in the form of a stray cat! Despite having its ear torn clear off, the cat managed to savage the Beast before being struck down. Two marksdwarves were down in the general vicinity and have rushed to defend the other dwarves. They are bludgeoning the Beast, severely bruising it, however they are taking wounds and at this rate shall not defeat the beast. The skill of Urdim Ageshkadol Odroznog in this defence has been great that he has screamed repeatedly "Tenshedgulnas!" The sturdy bismuth bronze crossbow is truly a weapon of note - having taken down Rurast with its true aim, it now is being used from the non-pointy end to beat Sarek in to submission. The hastily erected walls are now slowing our defenders - I shall have the masons heads for their solid work! A temporary access mine may be needed to allow reinforcements through. Let us pray to Armok that it is not too late.
17th Limestone, 193. Ingish Ustuthimesh has fallen. After repeatedly assailing the Beast, and collapsing from exertion once already, Sarek managed to land a brutal kick to the head, jamming the skull through the brain. We shall remember our fallen. With one of the defenders down, the Beast has torn trough the civilians in the area, felling Kol Mengshalig, the clothier and Uzol Mamgozrimtar, one of our Dwarven babies carried in the arms of its mother. Too late, the melee has been joined by Degel Thosbuturist, who is a skilled swordsdw... WAIT! He is meant to hold one of the keenest blades known to dwarf! But alas and alack! His training with the mace sees him brandishing the blunt weapon instead! At least he's managed to hold it by the correct end this time - curse his haste!
17th Limestone, 193 - second entry. More reinforcements are tackling the Beast but that is not the most disturbing news. Cog Arthikut, nay but a dwarven child, has been taken by a fey mood. Let Armok guide the hands of the innocent.
17th Limestone, 193 - third entry. The foulness has been bested. Bemul Kadoltumam grabbed the nearest weapon to hand, a razor-keen short sword, and she joined battle with Sarek. Despite being a competent hammerdwarf, she is at best a novice swordsdwarf but has shown her skill today. Taking advantage of the 6 other combatants striking away at the beast, she raised her -adamantine short sword- and slashed the beast in the lower body, cleaving it in half and sending the severed parts sailing awain in an arc inscribed by the ichor of the Forgotten. Despite the outcome, we are not without further losses. In the battle, Likot Oburlorbam, dwarven child, has suffocated. A baby, child and adult have perished, but the beast is no more. If only its antennae stopped twitching, I shall rest.
