Changes in the Cheese Industry[edit]

Supposedly, cows can now be milked. From this I infer other creatures can as well. Can anyone verify what creatures are milkable?

Cow cheese is worth 50, Donkey 50, Horse 50, etc.

In other words, common cheeses are worth much less / very little now in the food industry. A table needs to be made, but I don't know of all of the available cheeses yet.

Toady also mentioned that dwarves should not eat purring maggots so frequently now. Can anyone verify this?

Don't cook the milk[edit]

Confirmed that, unlike 40d, milk will still be made into cheese if cooking of milk is turned off in the kitchen z-menu. Hoo-ray! --Zombiejustice 16:16, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Purring Maggots should exist[edit]

In a devlog entry, Toady mentioned that dwarves were eating purring maggots. This likely means the biome still exists. --174.113.156.80 17:56, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

The issue isn't about existence it's about biome. There are no more chasms or bottomless pits. Purring Maggots only occur in a now non-existent biomes. Thus, you don't see them. --76.188.109.43 18:04, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

They do still appear, the same way that cave spiders still appear despite having the same biome tags. [SUBTERRANEAN:CHASM] doesn't mean the same thing that it used to.JohnnyMadhouse 02:26, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Since purring maggots have [VERMIN_NOROAM], you'll never actually see them walking around in the caverns - the only way to get them is to set traps. --Quietust 16:37, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

I think you can still spot them in the caverns. --Libelnon 15:21, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

More animals[edit]

OK, so I added all the animals that I have seen that give milk (or for which I could trade milk) in v0.31.25. All cheeses I've seen were 50 Dwarfbucks per stack of five in dwarven caravans. However, I haven't done the research on Human or Elven caravans, so I left those as question marks. Feel free to update. --MisterB777 19:57, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
