v0.31 Talk:Quarry bush

From Dwarf Fortress Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Torham reports that Quarry bush leaves cannot be cooked anymore. (moved from article) --Briess 19:20, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Can confirm that :( Greep 07:54, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
I've had no problems cooking them at all, either in bags or the ones that somehow got placed in the foodpile without being bagged.v0.31.03 So I'm reverting your edit pending further research.

Any unbagged quarry bush leaves you have are likely a result of them being taken to the kitchen just before the cook task is cancelled. --Quietust 12:40, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Okay it took one heck of a long time, but they were evntually used. I'm guessing what ingredients are chosen isn't quite random, and quarry bushes are at a low priority? 71.134.230.146 23:00, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Bug from 31.01. Fixed. That aside, quarry bush may be used last since they are stored on a more distant stockpile since most ingredients do not come from the farmers WS. --92.202.34.251 23:30, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

With the new (31.19) second rock nut usage path (via milling and pressing), it seems like a decent bit of this page will need to be re-written. From what I can tell, the sequence seems to be Rock Nuts -> (Mill) -> Rock Nut Paste -> (Screw Press) -> Rock Nut Oil (cookable) and Rock Nut Press Cake. Both the "Rock Nut Paste" and "Rock Nut Press Cake" seem to be treated as one type of food ingredient, as they share an entry in the Kitchen menu, along with the same Stocks summary name, and are indistinguishable in prepared meals ingredient lists. Both the paste and the cake are referred to as "Rock Nut" (singular) these cases, which makes it somewhat confusing but does keep it distinct from the seeds, which are called "Rock Nuts" (plural). The 'extra' product you get for turning the Paste into the Press Cake, ie the Oil, can either be cooked with as a Liquid ingredient (separate Kitchen entry) or used instead of tallow in the soap making process.

I think that's most of the process information that needs to get integrated into the page, but I'm not up for re-writing the article. ---

Making these into prepared meals makes lots of food very quickly, is there a similar product that creates loads of booze?

Minor re-organization[edit]

Did a minor reorganization to clarify the rock nut process versus the quarry bush process. Feel free to move things around and clean it up a bit more. --MisterB777 00:13, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
