Skill vs. quantity[edit]
It has been claimed that the skill of the gem cutter does not affect the number of large gems and gem crafts produced. This would seem to contradict historical evidence here, and the 33% flat rate suggested for glass cutting differs significantly from my observed results for 200 attempts (roughly 25% overall, and down to 10-20% for dabblers). The most recent edit also claimed that the cutter's skill does not influence quality, which I find to be a rather incredible claim. --Loci (talk) 20:01, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
- Recent research has determined that the quantity of crafts and large gems is unaffected by skill. The quality of the resulting crafts likely is influenced by the cutter's skill, however.--Loci (talk) 21:25, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
