: I only just now figured out that pressure plates delay 100 steps before sending a CLOSE signal. That makes a high-frequency repeater much more difficult, and explains some trouble I was having with the Data Flip-flop. The standard repeater takes ~300 steps, sending 4 OPEN signals per day: OPEN signal, 100 delay, bridge and floodgate open, 100 delay, CLOSE signal, 100 delay, bridge and floodgate close and OPEN signal.
