Engineer is a category profession. It contains skills relating to the construction and operation of mechanisms and machinery, including siege engines.
An adult dwarf whose best skill is in this category and who has at least one other skill in this category whose level is more than half the level of the highest skill will be known as an "Engineer", otherwise they will be known by the highest skill alone.
For example, a dwarf who is a Talented (6) Mechanic and a Competent (3) Pump Operator will be known as a Mechanic but will become an "Engineer" once Pump Operator reaches Skilled (4).
