Slade is the stone that makes up the surrounding layers of Template:Ls. After dwarves dig deep enough down into Template:L veins, large, demonic caverns made of slade will open up and spew forth demons. Template:Ls are also made entirely of slade.
Slade walls cannot be dug into. However, slade floors can. Slade is also very, very heavy - ~9.456 times as dense as platinum. It is possible to use weapons made out of this extremely dense material in Arena mode only.
In Fortress Mode, it is not possible to mine through slade walls (although, due to a bug, it is possible to channel slade floors), and it cannot be imported, therefore the material is completely unusable in the game itself.
