Out of date?[edit]

This article is mostly out of date for DF2012—especially considering how much the syndrome system has been expanded. As of now, syndromes are pretty much the most important part of interactions for modding; not only that, but 34.01 added a whole lot of new tokens. I feel we should make a new article entirely specifically for syndrome tokens. Putnam3145 05:08, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

  • If the article is out of date, then update it. This is a wiki, after all. --Quietust 05:33, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
  • I guess I may have worded that wrong--I was trying to ask if we should make an entire new article specifically for the tokens. Putnam3145 05:52, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
  • I vote yes, for a new article. I'm a relatively new player. A Forgotten Beast toad has caused my dwarfs to start falling over and suffocating. I searched for 'poison', no luck. 'Forgotten Beast' took me to 'Symptom', where at least I found out there is something called a 'syndrome' running around. Clicking on 'syndrome' brings me here - but while descriptive, this article doesn't help me deal with my problem, it just helps me poison my dorfs more effectively. That might be fun at some later date, but right now I want to keep them alive. Somewhere along my line of searching, it seems to me there should be a suggestion on how to deal with syndromes: identifying the problem, and dealing with it. Unfortunately, I do not feel qualified to modify the pages myself - after all, I'm looking for info, not (currently) capable of providing any. --CaptC 17:19, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Syndrome???[edit]

So..I'm in a Untamed Wilds environment, a blooming fortress, about 30-40 dwarves, but suddenly I see several workers are being more sluggish than usual. I bring up the Z-health screen and...(The wiki won't let me upload the screenshot.Oh well)

Anyway, six dwarves had Sensory Nerve damage, Motor Nerve Damage and either Impaired Grasp or Ability to stand lost. They sure didn't get into any fight or touch any corpse, yet they had wounds that had been cleaned and sutured...where could this syndrome come from?--Zoro the Gallade 04:50, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

How cold does the weather get out there? --Quietust 00:50, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

It's Temperate.Ponds freeze for maybe two months, but thaw out immediately. Also, I just noticed that some of the migrants I get come with this damage already. You think they contracted it offscreen? --Zoro the Gallade 04:50, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Tag Additions[edit]

Here's a partial(?) list of new syndrome tags that appear in interactions; but I haven't done enough testing to properly add info to the main article

CE_DISPLAY_TILE

CE_DISPLAY_NAME

CE_ADD_TAG

CE_REMOVE_TAG

CE_CAN_DO_INTERACTION

CE_PHYS_ATT_CHANGE

CE_FLASH_TILE

CE_SPEED_CHANGE

CE_MATERIAL_FORCE_MULTIPLIER

CE_BP_APPEARANCE_MODIFIER

CE_BODY_MAT_INTERACTION

CE_BODY_TRANSFORMATION

CE

Treatment[edit]

The article mentions that doctors can help cure syndromes. But is there really anything they can do? I know they get diagnosed but isn't that the end of healthcare for the infected? -- Qazmlpok 18:51, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Missing Tags[edit]

There is at least one argument for "CE:" missing from the article, and with this article's unusual organization I don't know hoe to add it in

"CE:COUNTER_TRIGGER" is not mentioned. It appears in the example vamire interaction with the arguments [CE:COUNTER_TRIGGER:DRINKING_BLOOD:1:NONE:REQUIRED], although string dump seems to imply that the argument following COUNTER_TRIGGER could be any of the following:

ALCOHOLIC

COMBATHARDNESS

TIME_SINCE_BREAK

PARTIED_OUT

MILK_COUNTER

EGG_SPENT

GROUNDED_ANIMAL_ANGER

TIME_SINCE_SUCKED_BLOOD

DRINKING_BLOOD

That's probably because it cannot be used on its own - plain "CE" tags are used as parameters for other CE_* tags such as CE_BP_APPEARANCE_MODIFIER or CE_BODY_MAT_INTERACTION. Presumably, Toady did it that way because otherwise it would've been too bulky (e.g. [CE_BP_APPEARANCE_MODIFIER:START:0:BP:BY_CATEGORY:TOOTH:APPEARANCE_MODIFIER:LENGTH:150:COUNTER_TRIGGER:DRINKING_BLOOD:1:NONE:REQUIRED] or [CE_BODY_MAT_INTERACTION:MAT_TOKEN:RESERVED_BLOOD:START:0:INTERACTION:DEITY_CURSE_VAMPIRE_1:SYNDROME_TAG:SYN_INGESTED:SYNDROME_TAG:SYN_INJECTED]). --Quietust 03:18, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Specifically, the "CE" token permits the parameters INTERACTION, SYNDROME_TAG, CREATURE, PERIODIC, and COUNTER_TRIGGER. Exactly which types of symptoms accept these parameters is not yet known. --Quietust 03:25, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
