40d Talk:Fortifications

From Dwarf Fortress Wiki

Isn't this sort of thing already covered by fortress defense? If not, perhaps it should be added to THAT article, so everything is neatly in one place. (I do care for the prose, though; good work.) --Zombiejustice 01:42, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

That would be because I didn't find Fortress Defense. I looked for another article, but apparently I failed to find it. It might not nessessarily need to be added, though; I was planning on making this page focus mainly around offensively defensive architecture, with as minimal an investment of soldiery as possible. Hence, "Fortifications" would be quite appropos. --ShadowDragon8685
Sounds fair enough. Put some links between them, perhaps, so others can see the whole picture. Or perhaps a category? --Zombiejustice 10:41, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

This seems terribly unclear to me:

(There is little reason whatsoever to erect free-standing fortifications outdoors, as constructed walls may be carved into fortifications and give you the benefit of a natural (non-constructed) floor in the square above which remains even when carved into fortifications; free-constructed fortifications do not).

"in the square above which remains even when carved in fortifications; . . ."

what? Perhaps the author can edit this statement into two or more sentences to make it clearer. Walker222 15:38, 31 October 2008 (EDT)

This article would be useful, but it doesn't say anything that isn't said elsewhere. --Savok 17:43, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

Merge into other articles[edit]

Currently, there's this page, fortress defense, and the defense guide. That seems a bit much. I'd suggest merging them down to one or two appropriately named pages. This one seems the least necessary, so I'll start here. --Mikaka 23:35, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Mik - Been almost a month since we started talking about this, combined content w/ Defense guide for now, as a first step of a longer process. This "article" now returned to original purpose, which was that the word "Fortifications" redirects to the article on "Fortification", the thing archers shoot thru. Added disambiguation & link to top of that page.--Albedo 15:20, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
