I went ahead and added what I knew to this page.--CrazyMcfobo 01:25, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure I know how grudges are formed now, if a dwarf is part of an organization and dislikes a different organization, and comes into contact with said Org. then they form a grudge.--CrazyMcfobo 19:40, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
So what organizations would that be for example? --Koltom 14:07, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Alright, let me write down an example.

"Urist McArmokWorshipper belongs to the society of the plump helmets. He disliskes those in the sweetpod society. He comes across a dwarf in that society in the meeting area and begins to chat. They are now enemies. Now, whenever they chat, both of them get bad thoughts."

Sorry for my spelling errors, I just woke up.--CrazyMcfobo 15:00, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

I have lots of grudges but no societies. So that can be only part of the truth. In my fortresses it looks more like being on opposing sides of a scale triggers it, like "constantly active" vrs. "lives life at a leisurely pace" "modest" vrs. "immodest", tradition loving vrs. hating it --Koltom 07:26, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Alright so there are alot of factors, all we need to do now is find them all! I'm going to get a picture of a society for you real quick.

Edit; Citizen.jpg--CrazyMcfobo 15:58, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

That's not a "society". The latter name mentioned is the name of your settlement, and the former is the name of the dwarf's original civ. I've never heard of dwarfs disliking other dwarf civs - the closest I've seen to something along those lines is when a dwarf (or any other civver) becomes an enemy of a civ after killing enough of their citizens, but that's got nothing to do with the thought of individual dwarfs. --3 19:13, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Death of Grudge: Negative thought[edit]

I can't say this is definitive proof; ethics and personalities may still play a large part.

However, as I was conducting quick testing on some mod/reaction changes I was consistently embark/abandoning. One such embark landed straight in the middle of a open magma pipe. One of the starting seven was killed off by a Fire Imp.

Relationships broke down like this:

-Deceased Kobold
 -Friend 1/Miner
 -Friend 2/Fish Cleaner
   -Long-Term 3/Trader
   -Long-Term 4/Woodcutter
   -Long-Term 5/Swordbold
     -Grudge 6/Carpenter

Friend 1/Miner and 2/Fish Cleaner were struck with "has lost a friend to tragedy recently", bringing them down to 60~ happiness.

Long-Term 3/Trader, 4/Woodcutter, 5/Swordbold had no negative or positive reactions at all and remained "quite content", 100~ happiness.

Grudge 6/Carpenter became unhappy due to "lost an annoying acquaintance to tragedy recently", 50~ happiness. The worst reaction of the group.

edit: Friend 1/Miner and 2/Fish Cleaner took a second negative thought "forced to endure the decay of a friend". Grudge 6/Carpenter had no such thought, positive or negative.

These were extrapolated using Dwarf Therapist and Dwarf Companion to verify.--DracoG 19:27, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
