Drawbacks[edit]

The concern about dwarves trying to path through one-way passages is valid - if I build a one-way ramp and make it lead to a dead-end, a single dwarf that ends up inside starts rapidly flashing with a blue question mark and drops the framerate significantly (on a 2x2 test embark, it dropped me to 50fps on a 2.4GHz Core 2 Quad). --Quietust 00:41, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Having used two of these in one fort (one going in each direction) and locking down one of them I did discover how Dwarf Fortress reacts:

Quite calmly. A dwarf needing to travel in the opposite direction will go "against the flow" after a minute of hesitation. There was no apparent game slowdown due to pathing lag, but it did take the dwarf a minute to figure out that he could, indeed, travel the "wrong" way. Possible reason why it doesn't cause lag is because there was a longer, valid path still available. --Draco18s 20:28, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
