I got the information on the settings from this[1] forum post. Not sure about the accuracy, but it seems pretty good. The rest of the information is just from personal experience. --Timmeh 01:11, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Just a question, but the entry seems to assume use of the mouse. Is that necessary? Can the world painter be used using keyboard only? Might be worth noting either way.--Jpwrunyan 08:14, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
I tinkered with this last night and indeed it looks like the world painter requires you to use the mouse exclusively.--Jpwrunyan 02:41, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
From what I can tell, there is no way (at the moment) to opperate the World Painter with the keyboard, save a few simple commands. That being said, I don't really have substantial experience with it yet, so take what I say about it with a grain (or small bucket) of salt. --Timmeh 11:57, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

I changed the line about temperature a bit but don't think I conveyed the whole concept. If you set the minimum temperature for the world lower it's possible to get glaciers down the middle of the map at about -50. The frozen biomes require the peak temperature to remain below some threshold during the summer, and that component is much smaller at the frozen edge of the map. With medium maps at least either top of bottom is randomly selected as a polar edge and then the seasonal temperature variation grows as you get further from it.
