DF2014 Talk:Underworld
108.31.195.27 22:42, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Can a mod change the title of the hell page? It kinda defeats the point of the spoiler warning if you can instantly infer half the article from the title alone.
Renaming article title[edit]
I have moved the title of the page (and will move its older versions) from "Hell" to "Underworld", my reason being that "Underworld" is the official game term and the old title broke Rule G. See String dump. Whenever the place is directly expressed in dialogues, descriptions, and announcements, Underworld is used exclusively. The only exceptions when this does not apply is the digging reveal announcement and unavailable fish announcement; it is refered to as "eerie cavern" in those cases. In contrast, the only times Hell is used in-game are in generated names for creatures/sites/etc., which are random and have no relevance to the place, and book titles. I assume creatures who ventured into the place and then wrote a book about it has a chance to entitle their book with Hell, but there are other possible titles, including Fiery Depths, and is likewise randomly generated. In addition, other in-game objects, aside from generated names, use Underworld, e.g. Underworld Spire, Underworld Gate. I reckon "Hell" is largely a fan-made nickname for the place that has stuck on and became the more popular one; regardless, the game term should be used. Even Toady himself calls it "underworld" in his replies and devlog. I edited the article to fit in accordance with the changes, as well as adding a Terminology section which lists various names both in game and made by the community. – Doorkeeper 01:42, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
"In worlds without demons, goblins are locked away in their stead."[edit]

Can somebody else confirm it? Atm I see no goblin pits, either initially or as a result of dig deep disaster.
Lacking evidence, I'm reverting it for now.
