I've been suffering from prolonged sieges in recent years, and as a result the human caravan stopped arriving.
Then, during yet another goblin siege, a group of about eight humans came along and I got the usual "The enemy has arrived and is laying siege to the fortress". They were swiftly dispatched by the goblin hoards, then the goblins gave up their siege.
The next year a human diplomat arrived and requested peace, and was shortly followed by a very minimal caravan (two traders and two guards). Is there any chance that this human "siege" was actually an attempt at breaking the goblins siege? Like the humans were actually trying to assist me, rather than start a war? Or did the human's caravan get destroyed repeatedly outside of my realm, and the humans decided it was my fault?
EDIT: At the very least, it shows that warring nations can make peace nowadays. I'll modify the article to show this.
