Every Template:L's best friend, and indeed the equivalent of rock stars in the fortress! Brewers brew various Template:L into Template:L beverages, such as ale, beer, and other spirits. Since all Template:L slow down without alcohol, this is a very important skill.
Brewers need a Template:L, a brewable Template:L, and at least one empty Template:L or water-tight Template:L in order to brew drinks.
Regardless of Template:L, a brewer produces five units of alcohol for each unit of brewable plant, as well as Template:Ls of that plant. Because of crop Template:Ling, this allows brewers to synergize well with highly talented Template:Ls and Template:Ls (who are more likely to produce larger plant stacks)[Verify], and can quickly lead to Template:Led stills. A brewer will turn "Template:L" into "Template:L [5]", and will turn "Plump Helmet [5]" into "Dwarven Wine [25]". Both actions fill one empty barrel (despite their different quantities), and presumably take the same amount of time to brew.
Unlike many farming labours, brewing cannot be done without a barrel or pot. This can become an issue if your fortress has more food than barrels, as any spare barrels will be immediately filled with food. Limiting the number of barrels that your food Template:L can store can help keep some barrels empty for brewing.
Currently booze has no Template:L, so high skill in brewing only allows for booze to be made faster. In spite of the lack of quality, dwarfs with a Template:L for a particular type of booze seem to get a happier Template:L out of drinking home-brewed booze of their preferred type over imported booze of the same type.
Brewing plants always produces seeds, so you won't have to worry about being unable to replant your crop next season.
