The blacksmith makes furniture, buckets, bins, blocks, cages and anvils at a Metalsmith's forge. Although chains are listed under the "furniture" menu, chains are made by metal crafters.
Confusingly, the skill a blacksmith uses is called "Metalsmith" when viewing the list of experienced skills a dwarf possesses, but "Blacksmithing" on the list of labours.
All metal furniture requires 3 bars to forge except for chains, animal traps, buckets and blocks.
