I had floor hatches keeping water over my entrance. Everything went smoothly until spring, when I noticed how it had become a massive waterfall. I suspect either freezing or melting water/ice destroys hatches/mechanisms. I must admit I'm not 100% sure the water was frozen altogether.

I tested it meself-creatures will walk on a Floor Hatch, which can be placed over an empty space (doesn't require stairways.) If a floor hatch is triggered with a mechanism of some sort, any creatures on said hatch go straight down.

Magma on non-resistant hatches[edit]

Will non-resistant hatch melt if I flood it with magma? Closed doors and walls are resistant, because magma never enters their tile. Hatch occupies floor part of tile, and thus has to withstand full temperature. --Someone-else 06:42, 6 May 2008 (EDT)

Cleaning up[edit]

I think this article should be merged with hatch cover into a single Hatch one (a bit like door). Currently, Hatch redirects to floor hatch.--Aykavil 07:25, 18 July 2008 (EDT)
