In the scenario where your Manager and Mayor happen to be the same dwarf, complaints about lack of work will not be processed - instead, they will merely be signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public inquiry, lost ''again'', and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters.

This article is about an older version of DF.

Once the economy has activated, dwarves that are underemployed may request a meeting with your Manager to complain about the lack of work. These complaints will be subsequently relayed to the Mayor.

The following guilds exist:

At the beginning of each season, the Mayor will respond to the 3 guilds which made the most requests by either raising the guild's wages to 150% for the next season, or by making a mandate "that certain jobs be completed". If more than 3 guilds have made requests during one season, their requests will be ignored.

Unlike in previous versions, ignoring guild requests has no noticeable effect on gameplay - there are no individual guild leaders which would receive happy or unhappy thoughts (these may instead go to the Manager), and work slowdowns no longer happen.

Rangers, fishery workers, and farmers may also complain about a lack of work, but since they have no corresponding guilds in this version (formerly the house fer and house ber), their complaints will fall on deaf ears.
