Horses[edit]
OK - So if I enable the trapping skill AND the animal trainer skill then the same guy should be able to catch an animal then bring it back and train it? Specifically, all the wild horses: I'm sure they will breed and be tasty, and the migration pattern will bring more wild ones back anyway! GarrieIrons 23:24, 11 January 2008 (EST)
Trapping is only used to catch vermin creatures- small creatures represented by a . and not any letter. Most vermin can be tamed without having a dungeon master but a few need one. To catch wild animals, you need a mechanism, a cage and a dwarf with the mechanics skill to build a cage trap, and hope some wild animal runs over it. Bouchart 23:46, 11 January 2008 (EST)
Wierd Training Problem[edit]
I have a really wierd problem; I enabled the animal trainer skill, had a kennels, had food and dogs but the animal trainer just walks up to the kennels, and walks away without doing anything. I tried removing all labors except animal training, all ranger related labors but nothing worked. What should I do?--Stinhad Limarezum 02:10, 20 October 2008 (EDT)

Other responsibilities[edit]
Either this labor or Animal caretaker is required in order for a dwarf to transfer a hostile creature to a cage (though, oddly, anyone can pit/pond a hostile); exactly which skill is response, I can't easily check at the moment. --Quietust 15:51, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
