Density is a material property that, along with the volume of the object, affects the weight of an object made from the material.
Tests show that weight affects how much damage blunt-force weapons do, of which density is a large factor of. Additionally, lightweight edged weapons or attacking parts made of certain materials seem to have difficulty piercing tissue layers. Apparently, density in dwarf fortress is in kg·m−3.
