This article is about an older version of DF. |
Template:Elven A farm plot is a building that allows Template:L to grow Template:Ls from Template:Ls. Plants can be used for Template:L or to Template:L Template:L. Farm plots built Template:L have completely different crops from Template:L farm plots. Note that the attributes Inside Dark Outside and Light are of no relevance.
In large fortresses, farming is the most compact way of producing food. Some early forts can subsist with Template:Ls collecting plants from Template:Les above ground but that is insufficient to support large populations.
See the article on Template:Ls for details on the conditions needed to grow the available plants.
Above Ground Farm Plots
Plants gathered by herbalist can be processed for the seeds necessary to set up an Above Ground farm. Trading seeds is the oter source.
Subterranean Farm Plots
Unlike Above Ground farms, Subterranean plots need Template:L in order to produce crops. Underground caves will most often have multiple Template:L to build Subterranean plots on, but any other location requires you to Template:L the desired location first.
Seeds brought with the expedition are not allowed to be Template:Led Above Ground and currently0.31.03 must be Template:Led on muddied tiles via irrigation.
