Welcome to this wiki! Dwarf Fortress rapidly becomes more complicated, and we're always glad to have new writers.
Since you should try to follow wiki standards, and you probably don't know ours yet, we've made a list of basic guidelines. Note that this is a template, not a customized message for you.

• To tell us who you are when you talk, please sign your posts on discussion pages by typing ~~~~ after your posts. This can also be inserted with the button if JavaScript is enabled.
• Don't put a question mark in the title of a page. Question marks mess things up, and your page will be moved to a different name.
• When making comments on a talk page, use one more colon before each line in your comment than was used in the comment you reply to. In general, put exactly one empty line between comments by different users but do not use blank lines inside of a comment.
• Avoid making many small edits to a page. Instead, try to make one large edit. This makes the history of the page a lot easier to read.
• Don't edit the user page of another user. If you want to tell them something, add the comment to their talk page.
• If you put a comment at the bottom of a talk page with section headers, you've probably put it in a section. Putting things in the wrong sections is confusing. You can create a section!
• Generally, read and follow the rules. They're like a little constitution, except not boring! Really, read them.
• Read the site announcements regularly, they contain important info.
• Check up on the manual of style occasionally, it's still being written, but will contain important style info soon.
• Some pages have version-specific articles, (ie: 40d, 23a...) when creating a redirect from the mainspace to a version specific article, use cv: instead of the version namespace.

DF2010:Activity zone‎

Hi. In the "site announcements", that drop-down at the top of every page, do you see the first line under "New Editors"? Yeah, the one that reads: "Please do NOT copy/paste old articles into new namespace unless you screen them for accuracy." Well, please don't, thanks. If you don't have the time to screen it before adding it, don't poison the well for others. (Also, consider using {{NewVersionStub}} for new articles rather than leaving blank pages when creating w/ {{av}}, but that's a judgement call.) now revision 85744 seems to be almost identical to mine(85077). 
The difference is that i made links with {{L|page|text}} while he used [[DF2010:page|text]].

You did that part correctly (he didn't pre-screen either, apparently). Both will get the job done "for now", but every [[DF2010: link will need to be changed later (possibly manually, sim to what's going on in 40d atm), while {{L| links will automagically still work fine once/when(if?) we ever get the official version number from the coders - which we've been waiting on for a while now. (Btw - if you want to tackle that page again, I'm putting some notes on it to that effect.)--Albedo 18:36, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Metal Bins

While you may have observed that metal bins only need 1 bar, this is in fact a bug - everything only uses 1 metal bar to forge, while attempting to forge it without any metal at all available will tell you how many bars it was actually trying to use (which, in this case, was the usual three bars). --Quietust 12:51, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
