This article is about an older version of DF. |
Mason is the skill associated with the masonry Template:L. Masons are responsible for creating Template:L and other objects out of Template:L in a Template:L. Masonry is also required for building Template:L (Template:L, Template:L, etc.) out of stone, stone Template:L or Template:L blocks.
As stone is plentiful early on in almost any fort, and the Template:L, Template:L, and Template:L a mason can build are immediately desirable, bringing a mason along is a sensible choice for most Template:L.
If you're going to be doing a lot of construction with stone, a good way to train a mason is to make a mason's workshop assigned to the trainee with the Template:L, have him/her churn out stone blocks, and do construction with the blocks. Not only does it train masonry, but the blocks have greater Template:L than the rough stone their made from, increasing the architectural Template:L of the resulting constructions.
