Sparring

I have a ghostly swordmaster that appears to be sparring. Can ghosts usually spar? Does it raise the combat stats of dwarves they spar with? ---- KillerWombat, April 15 2015

Removing Coffins

Surely this should be mentioned somewhere. Does removing the coffin, (and possibly destroying the skeleton) cause ghosts? Im a little nervous about trying it. Disacorns (talk) 20:55, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

The current version of this article mentions that deconstructing coffins can lead to murderous ghosts. Deconstructing coffins doesn't destroy the remains inside. I think it's fairly safe as long as the disinterred dwarves are buried again quickly. I'm pretty sure re-burying them will put to rest any ghosts that were awakened by destroying their coffins, but this should maybe be verified since I wasn't paying close attention to ghosts during this process. ~ 2128 (talk) 15:59, 31 January 2017 (UTC)

Ghost "transformed into a dwarf"?

what does "transformed into a dwarf" mean? 208.107.142.43 05:14, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Adding a link to discussion on the forum here, because why not. Anyone reading this in the future might find it helpful. Summarizing from the discussion so far, it seems most likely that this message was about a werebeast that had been killed while transformed, had never been memorialized or buried, and had eventually risen as a ghost. But it seems this should be verified to be sure that's what happened, if it's important enough to know for sure. --2128 (talk) 14:57, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Other Civilizations

Do dwarfs that come as goblin invaders ever become ghosts? If there is a way to bury them, I haven't found it. I can engrave slabs for them though, so I have but I'm not sure whether it's necessary. 2604:2D80:8419:C3A4:65DB:510E:9E19:4D5C 13:15, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Reviving ghosts with dfhack

Putting this here so I don't forget.

To bring back a ghost, first kill it with exterminate this, unpause if you're paused, then revive it with full-heal -r.

You can do multiple ghosts with the exterminate race command and full-heal -all -r or full-heal -all_citizens -r.

Obviously, don't use the race command on ghosts of your own race.

Clear-ghostly makes full-heal -r spit out an error and the ghost won't be revived.
